Well folks, this is it. The end of the road…at this link, because YA BOY HAS BEEN HIRED BY NO CEILINGS!
From now on, you can read all of my work at NoCeilingsNBA.com. You can still subscribe there, too, so that you’ll get all of my work straight to your inbox.
When I started BaumBoards in June of 2021, I had no idea how quickly it would grow. My Top 100 Big Board did monster numbers on Reddit, Chad Ford signal boosted my work (which is how most of you got here), and I was invited to be a guest on podcasts like Draft Capital and Draft Deeper. To call it a whirlwind would be an understatement. I started BaumBoards as a creative outlet, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t hope that it would grow into a recognizable entity. I would say that my “stretch goals” for two years were reached in about six months. In no way was I prepared for it to take off to the extent that it has, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. Each and every one of you has made this process better and more fulfilling.
So you may be thinking, “Okay, you’ve had this success that far surpassed your own expectations, so why go to No Ceilings?” That’s a fair question! There isn’t just one reason, so let’s go step by step:
1. I love the work at No Ceilings. Shows like Draft Deep from Nathan Grubel and NBA Deep Dives from Tyler Metcalf and Nick Agar-Johnson have been regular listens in my podcast rotation for a long time. Tyler Rucker’s meme game is top notch, but his articles are also thought provoking, and his experience around the NBA gives him a perspective few others can offer. I’ve been a No Ceilings subscriber since their formation; the work is consistent, insightful, and entertaining.
2. No Ceilings is a great “culture fit” for me. I love to go deep on players and try to make fresh observations that no one else out there is making. One of my proudest moments so far has been pointing out a player like Maxwell Lewis before others in this space considered him worth mentioning. Still, I don’t want to bore anybody. Look, there’s no denying that I’m a bit of a goofball. I’m going to make jokes, I’m going to reference I Think You Should Leave, and I’m still going to give you the best draft content I possibly can on a nitty-gritty level. There isn’t a better place for that on The Information Superhighway than No Ceilings.
3. No Ceilings Headquarters is located next to Dan Flashes, a menswear store where the price of the shirt is determined by how complicated the pattern is.
4. No Ceilings is a bigger platform. I want more people to see what I am doing!
5. I don’t have to change anything! I wouldn’t have moved on if I was going to have to make any compromises to my work. The team at No Ceilings reached out because they want my work on their site, not because they want to mold me in a particular image. The Prospect Overview is still going to remain on Tuesdays for now, too!
It’s as simple as that, folks. I want to thank you all for joining me on this journey so far, and I’d love nothing more than if you all came with me. Please subscribe here. You’ll get my work, and you’ll also get the best draft content out there from a few other writers, too. I can’t thank you enough, and I promise, this is only the beginning. I’m beyond excited for what the No Ceilings crew has coming down the pipeline; there are truly incredible plans in the works, and you won’t want to miss out.
I love each and every single one of you.
-Maxwell Baumbach
